Errnd operates a mobile application (the "Service") that connects customers with independent couriers for on-demand deliveries. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.
01Information we collect
You provide directly
- Account data — full name, email address, password (stored as a bcrypt hash), phone number, role (customer or courier).
- Profile data — profile photo, date of birth, gender (optional), addresses you save.
- Courier-only data — vehicle type, license plate, bank account details (for payouts), verification documents (national ID, driver's license, vehicle registration), emergency contact.
- Content you send — chat messages, delivery photos, ratings and reviews, SOS reports.
Automatically collected
- Location data — precise GPS while you are actively using the app. Couriers share live location during deliveries so customers can track them.
- Device data — device model, operating system, app version, push notification token, IP address.
- Usage data — screens visited, actions taken, errors encountered.
02How we use your information
- To operate the service (matching customers and couriers, processing errands, tracking deliveries).
- To verify courier identity and vehicle information.
- To communicate with you (email verification codes, push notifications, support conversations).
- To enable safety features (SOS alerts, in-app chat, delivery confirmation).
- To prevent fraud and enforce our terms (detecting duplicate accounts, banning abuse).
- To improve the service and fix bugs.
- To comply with applicable legal obligations.
03Who we share with
We only share data with third parties when it is strictly necessary to operate the service, and only the minimum required. The categories of processors we use are:
- Cloud infrastructure — hosting the app's backend, database, and file storage.
- Notification & email delivery — sending push notifications and transactional emails (including signup verification codes).
- Mapping & location services — map tiles, geocoding, and address search.
- Government authorities — only if legally compelled by a valid court order or law-enforcement request.
A current list of the specific vendors we use is available on request at support@errnd.co.
We never sell your data to advertisers or data brokers. Period.
04How long we keep your data
- Active account data — retained as long as your account is active.
- Deleted accounts — most personal data is removed within 30 days of deletion. Transaction history tied to completed errands is retained for 5 years for tax and legal compliance.
- Banned accounts — the phone number is retained indefinitely to prevent the banned user from creating new accounts, even after account data is otherwise deleted.
- Chat messages — retained for 90 days after the associated errand completes.
- Location data — live GPS points are retained for 30 days; aggregated trip data (origin / destination) is retained for 5 years.
05Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct — update inaccurate data in your profile any time, or email us.
- Delete — request deletion of your account. We will remove your data within 30 days, subject to the retention rules above.
- Withdraw consent — revoke location, notification, or camera permissions from your phone settings any time.
- Object — opt out of non-essential data processing.
- Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@errnd.co. We respond within 30 days.
06Security
All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS / TLS). Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text. Our backend runs on reputable cloud infrastructure with industry-standard security. Despite these measures, no system is perfectly secure — you use Errnd at your own risk.
07Children
Errnd is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
08Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. Material changes will be announced in the app and via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change.
